Weave spotted something strange wandering in the streets when he got up to go to the bathroom. He was at the toilet and looking out the barred window, which faces down the street like you are looking down it. He woke us all up saying it was about 3 or 4 houses down and it was just wandering back and forth, but he could barely see it under the street lamp.
Tuttle and I decided to check it out. We geared up for the worst. Coming up to the door, with our packs on, filled with ammo and a pack of jerky, I started to realize this was all very real. Before I stepped out I heard Cole call to me and I turned to a tube flying towards me. It landed in my hand instinctively. It was an extra silencer Cole had brought from his house. It fit my M9 perfectly. I checked again to make sure my shotgun was still in the back strap holder Tuttle had brought me from his shop.
We stepped out the door and stuck to the shadows. We weren't quite sure what these things were or how exactly they operated, so we decided it would be best if we weren't seen by whatever was down there. We moved past the edge of my house and turned right. this took us between my house and my neighbors and led us to the back yard. We then turned left and entered my neighbors backyard. We walked through his back yard, his flood light flashed on. We dashed forward the the next house's backyard to avoid being seen in the light. We really didn't know how sensitive these things were to light or sound or smell but we tried to remain invisible for the time being. There were about 3 houses in between my house and the one the shady character was walking in front of. We continued up until we reached the house it was in front of. We raised our pistols just in case we drew attention to ourselves. Just before we continued around the corner, I thought, "What exactly are we planning to do?". I suppose we were going to kill it but that seems kind of stupid to move out to it's position. I think it was more that we were curious to see the darned thing. We turned the corner of the house, strafing the side wall slowly with our guns up. When we came upon it, it was standing in the center of the street light. Just standing there with it's left cheek on its shoulder. One arm hanging limp, the other scratching at his neck. Tuttle turned back to me and said "I'm too scared to take the shot, I can't tell if it is just a man or not, it's too dark even with the light!". I replied "Just take the freakin' shot, better safe than sorry!". Tuttle decided he wasn't going to take the shot, but instead, whistle at it...(stupid in my opinion!) He gave a high-pitched loud whistle, determined to get it's attention. The shady character turned towards us and started walking. We could definitely tell it wasn't human now... It was missing it's jaw! Tuttle muttered "Holy s#$%". He turned to me and said "Gimme your 9.". I handed him my warm silenced M9. He turned toward the creature and began to aim. He lifted his arms and closed one eye, tilted his head to the left and pulled the trigger. We moved forward to take a look at the creature. The bullet hit him just above his left eyebrow. He had on blue jeans and a green hoody. His jeans were ripped at the knee and at the thigh on both legs. His skin was dry and a bit of a greenish grey, like he were really sick.
"Let's head back to the house" I said.
