Preparations

The news this morning claims they did an aerial survey and that the infection has spread 7-16 miles all around Indianapolis! It got 13 miles closer to us over night… The showed video clips from a news crew who were daring enough to get live footage. Those things are rotting all over! Some run and some can barely walk. “The rotting corpses seem to be attracted to light and sound.” claims the female news reporter.

I imagine that if the infection spreads by bite then it will spread faster each day.

We’ve decided to prep our little hold out for the coming of these things. Off to the hardware store.

We’ve just finished prepping the house. Our first idea was to remove my motion lights so as to not attract undesired attention. This of course was Cole’s idea. He and I have always had one big thing in common; we both have a great ability to take charge and plan ahead. I remember all through school we were really competitive with each other. Always trying to one-up the other in a good sportsman like way or just for fun. I think it really made us closer over the years. Anyways back to the modifications of my house. We added barbed wire to my chain-link fence, and not just to the top. We coiled and taped it all over the fence. It was almost untouchable! We also put bars on all the windows and some extra locks on the doors. Also we put boards from my attic window to the third floor window of my neighbors house, who had fled with his family farther north. While Tuttle and Weave were rigging the boardwalk I watched. I began to wonder why we hadn’t fled north. I suppose if the infection is going to spread we might as well hold up in a place we know. It’s not like we could out run it forever. Well, dinner and then off to bed.
